Passing the time with a book.
30 min till showtime. So excited to watch Hairspray! It’s been years since I’ve seen it live.

omg. a little boy came up to me and asked if i had just posted a picture on instagram. he had his mom’s phone, saw my picture under the Hairspray hashtag and decided to look for me. my mom started laughing and immediately wanted us to teach her how to use instagram.
This one guy hangs around my family a lot and has the habit of stating his opinion all the time even if it’s rude.
He’ll comment on my appearance, my things, on my behavior, and say whether he likes it or not.
Half the time I have to retrain myself from shouting at him that I DON’T CARE. Anything that I choose to do is not done for his approval.
Today he came shopping with my sister and me. I had a shoe box in my hand and he kept grabbing it. I’m not used to that so I kept taking it back. He finally asked why I wouldn’t let him hold it.
"Because I can hold it. It’s not a big deal"
“Give it to me.”
“I’m gonna break your arm if you don’t give it to me.
“Guys everywhere will thank me for proving that chivalry is not dead.”
*Trying not to scream at him*
ITS BECAUSE OF THIS KIND OF MENTALITY THAT FEMINISM EXISTS. IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU. WE CAN DO THINGS ON OUR OWN. YOU CAN OFFER ASSISTANCE, BUT IF WE DECLINE, DROP IT. YOU DON’T HAVE TO FEEL THREATENED. PUSHING THE ISSUE DOESN’T MAKE YOU A GENTLEMAN.
AND THE THREAT OF VIOLENCE ONLY MARKS YOU AS A PERSON TO BE WARY OF.
I don’t appreciate it. I don’t want your form of chivalry.
